After Shug had constructed the framework, George was back to build the blockwork walls.
The lower section went up first, on both sides.
This had the added bonus of immediately tidying up the edges of the old concrete slab ~ well, half of it anyway 😉
The next step was continuing the blockwork up the sides.
George supported the walls with planks whilst it dried. I can't remember now if this was because high winds had been forecast or was just a general "belt and braces" approach. This work was being done in September 2023 (like I keep saying, ignore the 2024 watermark LOL), but to be honest we can get high winds at any time of year!
Finally George moved round to the front and voila! the blockwork was finished. In this photo he had started to add another layer of blocks to the wall at the front of the old concrete slab, but didn't have quite enough to finish it on the day.
The blockwork still needed to be rendered and harled, but that had to wait until Shug had fitted the windows and door. What with one thing or another, it was certainly a very long process but at least it was a slow but steady process 😊
