Hello Sharon, I've read your blog over a number of years, but rarely commented. Firstly, I want to say "Good on you for tackling the medical problems" It's all too easy to put them into the Too Hard basket. I'm getting to the mid 70s, and also have numerous health issues, and I'm also overweight, so I do share your pain. Worry can be negative, but if I use that to get to the root of what's happening, and then face it, I find worry helpful. But, of course, worry without action is a total waste of emotional energy and I have to be quite firm with myself about that. I also found myself worrying about the situation in the USA, and the dreadful decisions being made by Trump and his minions, especially Musk, and had to decide to limit my reading and watching to 'Headlines and move on" or, when it's TV news, I take my hearing aid out (after which I'm totally deaf!) and look away from the screen. That's improved my mental health and given me energy for more productive things. I hope your gout subsides and you don't have another attack. And good luck with the diet. XX Virginia
Hi Virginia ~ so lovely to hear from you, and thank you for taking time to comment on my tale of woe! I understand exactly what you mean re the situation in the USA and in the end decided to only "skim read" and move on since there is nothing I can do about Trump or his administration. And to be honest, there's quite enough going on here in the UK to worry about at the moment *sigh* Anyhoo, all that aside, I am still plodding on with the lifestyle changes although I'm finding it pretty hard going. Needs must, though, so I'm doing the best I can and trying not to get disheartened when I slip off the wagon, as it were, from time to time! Thankfully the pain from the gout attack has gone albeit the toe joint does still stiffen up a little overnight. I suspect this may be the way things will be now, so I'm just trying to get used to it LOL Do you have a blog, Virginia? If so I would love a link please :) Sharon xx
