Gosh, I haven't written a post since 3rd January ~ it's been a hectic few weeks as you can imagine! We moved into our new home in Stromness on 26th January and I finally finished unpacking boxes last week ~ except for the boxes of books, which will have to stay in the confines of their cardboard homes for some time as we don't yet have any shelves for them to live on!
The weather gods were well and truly smiling on the 26th, which was the day we came over on the catamaran from Gills Bay. It was a lovely day, sunny and the sea was very calm. The rain held off until after the guys had unpacked the removal lorries, too. We couldn't have asked for a better day to move into St Abbs 😊
We had the plumber out on the very first day, as the overflow from the water tank above the bathroom was, well, overflowing! He took one look at the water cylinder and declared that it was ready to burst, so we were without hot water until the Tuesday after we had moved in ~ not a good start! Still, Davey (the plumber) was back on the Monday to fit a new cylinder and immersion heater, and an electrician came out on the Tuesday morning to wire in the latter. It's amazing how happy we were to have hot water again LOL
Matty travelled up very well, although he was plainly very confused as to what was happening. He took a little while to settle down once we had moved in but I think seeing his favourite bed and all the familiar furniture reassured him somewhat. He is much more settled now and is enjoying all the new sights, sounds and smells in his new environment.
It's now just over a month since we started our new life in the Northern Isles ~ these past few weeks have just flown by! There is a lot to be done to St Abbs, and we have already made a start ~ I will hopefully start regular blogging again now so look out for future posts and quite possibly way more photos than is absolutely necessary 😉

Happy to hear that your move went well, was wondering. Glad that Matty settled in okay, moving can be so unsettling for our little friends. As I recall, DC went a little nutso for a while. Er you having book shelves made or just going to by some ready built ones? Sounds like you can take a breather now. I hope you are happy in your new home!
